This pensions team is one of the biggest and best pensions teams outside of the City. It is fully resourced and recognised nationally for its genuine strength and depth. The firm also offers independent trustee services via Open Trustees, a subsidiary company of Osborne Clarke.

The firm provides pensions law advice to a national and often high profile client base. Clients include Kier Group plc, Imperial Tobacco, Bank of Ireland, Transport for London and Motorola.   

The role 
The firm is seeking a pensions solicitor to join the team in Bristol.  You will become involved in the whole spectrum of pensions law and practice including documentation, regulatory advice, general advisory work, corporate acquisitions, disposals and re-organisations (including PFI and outsourcing agreements), trustee governance, funding, investment management and custodianship. You will also be afforded the opportunity to work on pensions litigation work should you have experience or wish to gain experience in this specialist field.  The firm offers an extensive programme of learning and development opportunities and genuine opportunities for career progression.

Technical skills and experience

You will have gained excellent experience in non-contentious pensions work in a high quality pensions team, covering the areas mentioned above. You may also have some pensions litigation experience although this is not a pre-requisite. Experience of or an interest in public sector pensions work (in particular, the Local Government Pension Scheme) would be an advantage. Due to the nature of the work on offer and the structure of the team, the firm is seeking a lawyer with 2-5 PQE in pensions work.

 A vacancy has arisen for a clinical negligence solicitor at the leading law firm's clinical risk department in London.

This national firm is dedicated to providing commercial legal advice and representation to clients in the Public, Private and Third Sectors which provide, procure, fund and regulate public services.

The Role

Their team of clinical negligence specialists works across both the public and private sectors: they are members of the NHSLA clinical negligence panel and highly regarded for their work in the NHS, and they also provide clinical negligence services to private health companies.  The department consists of 7 partners and over 33 lawyers, 8 of which form part of the clinical negligence team in London.  In joining the team your role would involve managing a broad range of clinical negligence claims covering surgery, obstetrics and mental health independently and assisting other solicitors on significant value and complex cases.

The Individual

Ideally experience of working in defendant clinical negligence, but claimant clinical negligence experience is a possibility. A minimum of 3 years PQE is preferred.

Good analytical and drafting skills, with attention to detail and strong organisational and time management skills. They are seeking a team player with good interpersonal abilities.

The Role

This team of clinical negligence specialists works across both the public and private sectors: they are members of the NHSLA clinical negligence panel and highly regarded for our work in the NHS.  They also provide clinical negligence services to private health providers. 

The department consists of 7 partners and over 30 lawyers, 10 of whom form part of the Clinical Negligence team in Birmingham.  In joining the team your role would involve managing a varied caseload of clinical negligence matters with values of up to £250,000.  In addition, you would be assisting more experienced members of the team on high value obstetric and neurological claims for a range of West Midlands based NHS Trusts.

The Individual

Ideally you will have direct experience of working in Defendant Clinical Negligence practice.  However, experienced Claimant Clinical Negligence or Defendant Personal Injury practitioners would also be considered.  
You will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to manage a caseload efficiently and to make robust commercial decisions.  The ability to communicate clearly with clients, medical staff and expert witnesses is key.
